Lauren King focuses her practice on Energy and Real Estate Law, including both transactional and litigation representation in Texas and California. Her practice includes assisting companies with energy and real estate transactions, development activities, and operational issues, including litigation.

Lauren’s practice involves drafting and negotiating various contracts related to oil and gas development, renewable development and operations, and real estate development, including purchase and sale agreements, operating agreements, due diligence, loan documentation, lien priority, asset management agreements, entity selection and formation, and various other development agreements. Lauren frequently advises clients on litigation risk management and strategy, rendering title opinions, and advising on leasing and title issues for energy and real estate projects.

Prior to joining McCarn & Weir in 2019, Lauren built Acquisition & Divestiture Land Group, which worked on over $25 billion in oil and gas acquisition and divestitures. Additionally, Lauren has helped business development teams, private equity start-ups, and corporate boards stand-up oil and gas companies and departments.

Lauren has also assisted private real estate investors and developers to develop commercial offices, retail and condos, industrial office parks, as well as residential condo projects and single-family home subdivisions.  She has assisted start-ups and companies looking to expand their business by both region and product and service offerings.

Lauren provides practical, actionable advice to companies looking to grow their business, while mitigating risk. In her previous role as General Counsel for a San Francisco, CA based real estate developer, Lauren negotiated purchase and sale agreements and other commercial real estate contracts.  She also handled siting and development strategy and negotiation, including seeking approvals from city council and other regulatory bodies.

Lauren graduated from California Western School of Law in San Diego, California and was a Dean’s Merit Academic scholar. She was admitted to the State Bar of California in 2005, and Lauren has served on the Board of Directors of the San Francisco Bar Association and chaired the Barristers Club Pro Bono Committee.

Lauren and her husband have two children, and she enjoys volunteering, stand up paddle boarding, hiking, and skiing.
