As an Amarillo native, Patrick Weir enjoys practicing law in the Texas Panhandle. He focuses his practice in the area of Oil, Gas & Mineral Law, along with real estate, general business, and corporate transactions. In 2012, Patrick earned the qualification of Board Certification in Oil, Gas & Mineral Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization, at this time becoming the youngest attorney in Amarillo with the qualification.
Patrick’s oil and gas practice includes representation of clients involved in acquisition and due diligence, development and exploration of oil and gas properties, drafting oil and gas contracts and leases, preparation of drilling and division order title opinions, and resolution of disputes involving title or lease issues, surface damages, sub-surface easements, and royalty issues. Patrick also handles complex oil and gas litigation matters. His transactional practice involves advising new businesses on entity selection and assisting clients with the purchase or sale of a business. This includes drafting buy-sell and merger agreements. In addition, Patrick assists in drafting loan documents along with residential, commercial, and governmental leases.
Additionally, Patrick serves as General Counsel for an industrial gas company that is currently expanding and acquiring assets in order to vertically integrate into all phases of that gas development process, including exploration and production, midstream, processing, and distribution. As General Counsel, he assists and advises the company in various matters including intellectual property, corporate governance, financing and securities, and negotiations of gas purchase contracts.
Patrick actively participates as a Board member of the Panhandle Producers and Royalty Owners Association and is also actively involved in various other industry organizations.
Patrick and his wife, Dr. Mackenzie Weir, are proud graduates of Texas A&M University. They have been blessed with two wonderful children. In addition to spending quality time with his family and coaching his children’s little league teams, Patrick enjoys golfing, skiing, and following his favorite sports teams. He is an avid Aggie, Dallas Cowboys, and Chicago Cubs fan.
